BIG NEWS for Chestermere: FLC and SAIT Ready to Launch a New Learning Gateway!
We're thrilled to announce an agreement between the Foundational Learning Community (FLC) and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) Continuing Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) to launch a learner portal. This future collaboration will bring about accessible, career-focused learning right to the Chestermere community.
This dedicated Corporate Admin Learner Portal (CAP)—a private, curated platform - will connect FLC clients to a wide range of SAIT Continuing Education courses.
What This Means for Students & Learners
This agreement is in place to create a partnership designed to knock down barriers and create clear pathways to employment in Chestermere and beyond:
- Career-Aligned Pathways: Access courses in high-demand fields like digital technology, business and leadership, construction and trades, health care, and micro-credential opportunities.
- Flexible Learning: Courses will be offered in various formats—online asynchronous (learn at your own pace), online synchronous (live virtual classes), and select face-to-face modalities.
- Full SAIT Status: All learners registered through the portal will receive a SAIT student number and full student status, supporting a seamless continuation into higher-level programs if you choose.
- Affordable Access: The portal is designed to support the scaling of programming, with tiered course discounts available based on registration volume.
For Industry & Community Stakeholders
We are committed to aligning our course offerings with local employment needs and bridging skills gaps. FLC is currently engaging in needs assessments across sectors like digital technology, trades, construction, entrepreneurship, health care, and emerging opportunities, and SAIT is committed to aligning the portal offerings to these findings.
- Admin-Led Enrollment: Our Education Pathways Advisor (EPA) will be empowered to register learners, track their progress, and access course histories to support individualized learning plans.
- Workforce Readiness: This collaboration supports the FLC's vision for a community hub that supports diverse learners, including Chestermere's multilingual and multicultural population, in their journey toward upskilling and workforce readiness.
This Letter of Commitment signals SAIT's readiness to collaborate on programming and support FLC in preparing learners for future employment opportunities as we acquire funding.
We look forward to building this sustainable, accessible learning ecosystem for Chestermere residents together!
